Guest Artist: Shirley Casey + 7 Eclipse Cards

Back in August at Vacation Stamping School, I had never seen an Eclipse Card until Shirley Casey demonstrated the technique during our Demonstration Fair. Now, I am seeing gorgeous eclipse cards all over Pinterest!
The technique is fairly simple in concept:
  1. Stamp a design on a piece of neutral color cardstock.
  2. Die cut a shape or word (using the Large Letter dies) from the stamped cardstock. Be sure to keep EVERY little piece that comes out!
  3. Assemble the card and reattach the letters and negative pieces back in place, using extra layers or Stampin' Dimensionals behind the letters to make them pop out.

Shirley demonstrated the technique the way she learned it -- by die-cutting several layers on each letter to stack underneath. The Foam Adhesive Strips also work great for creating that dimension! If you set the letter just slightly off center from the die cut hole, you can see a little of the dark cardstock around the edges of the letters to get that "eclipse" look.

You don't have to only use the Large Letter dies! Play around with out shapes, like this square frame! Or try a punch!

Carols of Christmas Gift Tag

Vacation Stamping School would not be possible without the combined effort of MANY demonstrators. We usually end up with about 1/5 of the attendees helping at the event in one way or another. We like to show our appreciation with a small gift. This year, it was the Be Merry Designer Paper and a roll of Cherry Cobbler ribbon to match. Here is the gift tag that we made to go on the package.

Many thanks to Jessica Ingold for staying up late with me to finish up the tags and other last minute event tasks! Stampin' sleepovers are the best!
The tags were fairly simple and used some of the gorgeous new embellishments from the Holiday Catalog!

Guest Artist: Cathy Roy + 7 Ready for Christmas Cards

Cathy Roy did an amazing job creating projects with the Ready to Christmas bundle from the Holiday Catalog. She shared some ideas for promoting this bundle at Vacation Stamping School.

Cathy was inspired by Australian demonstrator Simone Bartrum, who showcased this bundle at the Share Fair on the Thailand incentive trip. Check out Simone's amazing projects on her blog: here and here. And give Cathy some love over on her Facebook page.

I love Cathy's tip of stamping the tree repeatedly for a fuller image. Cathy's favorite combination is Lemon Lime Twist and Wild Wasabi.
This last card was designed by Simone. (See her original here.) I love all the details on this THREE layer card! Here's the front:
